WHAT TO DO WHEN STORING YOUR ITEMS:

Store essential items toward the front
of the unit for easy access.

Leave an aisle in the center of your unit to provide a walkway to reach items in the back.

Keep items off the floor of the unit by placing 2x4's or plywood under them.

Label the content of boxes on all sides for easy reference.

Consider making an itemized list of everything in your unit.  This will save you time when looking for things you may (or may not) have stored there.

Free standing shelves are great for keeping your unit organized.

Use packing material (such as bubble wrap or peanuts) to protect valuables from chipping or breaking.

Invest in storage insurance to protect against unexpected loss.

Photograph stored items in your unit to provide proof of ownership in the case of an unexpected loss.

WHAT NOT TO DO WHEN STORING ITEMS:

Do not store any items that are explicitly prohibited in the storage contract: explosives, flammables, toxic chemicals, illegal drugs, etc.

Do not use plastic to cover your stored items, since it retains moisture.

Do not store any food items that will attract unwanted guests.

Do not assume that your homeowners insurance will cover your belongings in the event of an unexpected loss.

Do not give your access code to anyone that is not on the approved list.
